Design problem
Students select a FIFA World Cup team and design a fan engagement pavilion around that team to welcome and entertain visitors attending World Cup matches in Atlanta. The pavilion is envisioned as a dynamic, immersive destination that embodies the team’s spirit, culture, and global influence. Serving as a temporary hub for supporters, it will offer a curated mix of entertainment, education, and community interaction, creating a vibrant space for fans to connect and celebrate. This initiative aims to strengthen fan-team relationships, foster brand loyalty, and deliver memorable experiences that extend beyond the match, positioning the pavilion as a centerpiece of the World Cup fan experience in Atlanta.
Student solution
This project proposes a mixed-use residential and community structure inspired by the favelas of Brazil and the spatial qualities of dense, informal neighborhoods. These environments are known for their layered construction and strong sense of community, which serve as the main idea behind the design. The project reinterprets these ideas into a single, organized building that works as a vertical neighborhood within an urban context. It is designed to support activity during the FIFA World Cup while also functioning long-term. The concept is expressed through its circular site layout, stepped exterior form, and the organization of spaces across different levels.
