Texas State Fair

Design problem
The Art of Architecture is a juried competition for middle and high school students that explores the relationship between art and the built environment. Students are encouraged to observe and interpret architectural spaces, forms, and details, and express them creatively. All artwork must depict architecture, including buildings, details, or urban settings, from interior or exterior perspectives. Both representational and abstract approaches are welcome. Submissions are accepted in six categories: painting, drawing, mixed media, photography, printmaking, and sculpture.
Student solution
In this ink drawing, I combined a Ferris wheel, a duck, and a cake to represent all the memories with my family and friends at the State Fair of Texas. This piece was a representation of constant distractions and how comfort becomes a refuge during times like these.
